There are so many questions we can ask about the story of the Flood. Why destroy humankind? What was Noah’s role? How did all the animals fit on one ark?
But there is one question staring us right in the face, so obvious we probably forgot to ask it: Out of all the ways God could have destroyed the world, why did God choose a flood? The Torah makes no small deal of this flood either. It spends verse after verse painting such a vivid picture with so many details about the flood and its aftermath.
